The Big Debate: Air Conditioners vs. Heat Pumps – What Is Better For Your Home?
Heat Pumps or AC in Phoenix Metro Area
When considering a new cooling system for your home, you may debate between an air conditioner or a heat pump. We at Climate Pro, LLC are happy to walk you through benefits and features to determine the right product for you.
Air conditioners and heat pumps work in almost the exact same way. Neither one actually supplies cool air into the home. The system pulls hot air from the indoor air and expels it outside. There isn’t much of a difference in efficiency or cost. However, an air conditioner is strictly for cooling. The system provides no heating capabilities and is typically paired with a furnace. A heat pump can do both. It literally reverses the operation to use ambient heat from outside and pump it into the house. The downside is that heat pumps lose efficiency when the temperature drops below freezing.
